What are the benefits of owning a website?

In today's society owning a website is more of a necessity than ever. Your customers will probably expect you to have a website, and the majority of new business leads will more than likely search for you on the Internet, rather than other sources such as the Yellow Pages. A website allows you to tell prospective customers about your products/services and sell to them 24/7, 365 days of the year. Without a website you will probably be looked upon as "old fashioned" and behind the times.

What is a Domain Name

A Domain Name is an address on the Internet by which you can be found. For example www.mydomain.co.uk, or www.iweb2010.co.uk. Domain Names require registration, depending on what sort of extension you want to purchase. An extension is the ending of your domain name, for example .co.uk, .com, .net., .eu etc. The costs of Domain Names also varies depending on the extension you require.

What is Web Hosting?

When someone types in your domain name, e.g. www.mydomain.co.uk, they see your website. Without hosting nobody will be able to see your website, because it will not have been allocated a space to exist on the Internet. Imagine your car keys are your domain name and the car is your hosting. Without the other, neither are of any use.

Can you register my Domain Name?

Yes, iWeb2010 can register domain names on behalf of clients. We already have several hundred domain names registered which we handle for our clients on an annual basis so that they do not need to.

Can you host my website?

Yes, we host our websites across several very powerful UK based Windows and Linux servers. The fact that they are UK based means that we have quick access to the hardware if anything ever goes wrong and English speaking support staff - not that anything will go wrong, but we like to be prepared!

I don't have a large budget, can you help me?

Subject to credit and the total cost of your order we offer you the chance to spread the cost of your website across the term of your contract. In many cases our clients pay us via 36 monthly payments, whilst others pay us annually and some like to settle up in one lump with a discount applied.

How much will a website cost me?

This depends on what you want your website to do for you, and how many pages you need. For example a 5 static website, with domain name, web hosting and some maintenance will cost £650 per year, whilst a large e-commerce website with bells and whistles attached could cost up to £10,000. Please contact us to discuss your requirements as we assess each project individually.

How can I pay you?

We are happy to be paid via cheque, standing order, bank transfer or PayPal.

I only want a very basic website, can you help?

We can produce basic websites. Our starter package is available for just £300 per year. Please contact us for details.

I want a website where my customers can buy online, can you help?

Yes, we have produced many e-commerce websites. Depending on how you plan to accept payments you may also need to speak to your bank about setting up a merchant account. The most basic method of accepting online payments, whilst not necessarily the most cost efficient one, is PayPal. This does not require you to have a merchant account and is generally much quicker to set up, making it a good way to guage the potential success of your e-commerce website.

I want to run my own dating website, can you help?

We also own and operate an online dating company called iDate2010, comprising several successful networks of internet dating sites. Please contact us to discuss your plans and we will provide costs for the production and running of your dating venture.

Will I be able to update my own website?

We do offer a CMS (Content Management System) where required, which allows you to access files of your website and edit them as and when you wish to. However, most people prefer to ask us to do it for them, ensuring their website remains attractive and appeals to Search Engines. It is very easy to make a mess of your own website of you are inexperienced at the task in hand.

What is CMS?

CMS (Content Management System) is a facility which allows website owners to edit areas of their website without assistance from their webmaster. It is recommended that only advanced users attempt to perform their own updates, as it is very easy to make an attractively designed webiste look very ugly, very quickly!
